What Is The Order Of The Eastern Star?

The Order of the Eastern Star is the largest fraternal organization in the world to which both women and men may belong with its primary benefits being for women. Worldwide, there are more than 1 million members.

The Order of the Eastern Star (O.E.S.) is a social order comprised of persons with spiritual values, but it is not a religion. Its foundations are character building lessons that are portrayed in its ritualistic work. Its members share a deep fraternal bond. It is this wholesome relationship of sisterly and brotherly love brought about through high principles that make members near and dear to each other.

While this is an Order composed of people of deep spiritual convictions, it is open to all faiths except those of no faith. The personal welfare of the members is vital and it is considered a privilege to help another member whenever possible.

Who May Join?

Historically, only women with specific Masonic affiliation or Master Masons in good standing in their regular Blue Lodges were permitted membership. With modern times however, membership has been extended to other affiliations and with a dispensation, women with no Masonic affiliation have been granted membership. Members come from all socioeconomic stations of life.

Why Become A Member?

Both men and women join the Order of the Eastern Star to make friends, enjoy fellowship and have fun. Members make a difference in their communities through the many charitable and social activities that make the world a better place.

How Do I Become A Member?

To inquire about membership, talk to a current member. The Order strives to select persons of mental, moral and spiritual quality who will work together in harmony to perform its objectives.
