Are There Membership Dues?

Yes, as with membership to any social organization or club, members pay nominal monthly dues which affords charitable activities as well as maintenance of the meeting facility. There is also an initiation fee upon initiation.

Will I Have To Dedicate A Lot Of My Time?

There is no "required" obligation of time. After your initiation, you may attend as your time permits. However, the more you participate and become involved, the more you will receive from the Order.

Is The O.E.S. A Religion?

The Order of the Eastern Star is NOT a religion nor is it a cult. It does not pretend to take the place of a religion nor serves as a substitute for the religious beliefs of its members. Members from all religious beliefs are welcomed. The only requirement is a belief in a Supreme Being to become a member.

Is The O.E.S. A Secret Society?

The Order of the Eastern Star is not a secret society however, it is a society with secrets. Secret societies are underground and hard to find. Information about the Order can be easily found on many web sites. However, like many social organizations, there is information that is specific for members of that society which means identifying other members. Only members are allowed in closed meetings.
